Mr. South Africa 2010 Johannesburg semi-finalist, Helgard Marais was invited to 107th Year Birthday celebrations of the Abraham Kriel Home. This remarkable organization ensure the optimal development for traumatised and other children in need of care. The Abraham Kriel Home care for committed children in their residential facilities and develop, empower and reintegrate them and other socially disrupted and disadvantaged children and families, and enable them to function independently and to contribute to society.

“It was wonderful to see this event so well supported by both volunteers as well as visitors. There is something special being in a crowd of people and hearing the ecstatic laughter of children all around you having a good time.” Marais said.

During this well organized Makietie, hundreds of adults and children enjoyed the sun, one HUGE birthday cake and food for any ones taste with live performers and activities for the children to get involved in while a tea garden provided refuge for the ones who needed to sit down for a moment from all the excitement and fun.

“This was a true celebration, 107 years of looking after children in distress and need, that’s just awesome!” Helgard said. “It was clear today by the turnout of people how many people still do care and want to make a difference in someone else’s live and regard the safety, care and wellbeing of our youth as a top priority in South Africa.” Marais said.
