MR. SA 2010 Semi-Finalist Helgard Marais: Supports up-and-coming dancers

Mr. South Africa 2010 Johannesburg semi-finalist, Helgard Marais attended the New Dance Festival 2009 recently. The New Dance Festival is a festival which showcases new and young dance talent in South Africa. The festival takes place at the Dance Factory and at the Wits Theaters, both in Johannesburg.

“I was amazed and impressed at the level of young talent that we have in South Africa, Marais said. Helgard Marais attended two performances which included nine young dancers.

After the performances, Helgard Marais met the dancers when he congratulated them all and provided support and

words of encouragement and motivation to continue with their art.

The dancers expressed their appreciation for the interest that this Mr SA semi-finalist showed. “With talent like this, the future of dance in South Africa will go

a long way”, Marais said.
