Mr. South Africa 2010 Johannesburg semi-finalist, Helgard Marais was invited to the recent Pantomime in Irene, Pretoria where he showed his support to upcoming young actors.
The Irene Drama Society presented Cinderella in a delightful lighthearted and humorous theater performance by amateur actors. The well put together cast and story of Cinderella with some realisms and modern day references was directed by Vickey Bosch and had the audience crying with laughter and enjoyment.

“Humor and realism plays an important role in each person’s life. I applaud these young amateur actors for their courage and contribution they make in our society. With all the challenges we as South Africans face each day, it is healthy and good to just sit back once in a while and have a good laugh.” Helgard said.
Helgard met with the cast after the show congratulating them on a performance well done and encouraged them to continue to follow their dreams of being actors as well as lighten up their audiences lives with their acting talents.
The involvement of Helgard as Semi-Finalist with the pantomime was two-fold. The one part was to support the community based arts programme and the other was to introduce Elsie van Der Walt, Manager of Ons Huis Trust to Irene Dramatic Art Society Producer.

The goal of which was so that the two programmes could assist each other.
The Dramatic Arts society was very excited about putting on shows in aid of Ons Huis and possibly provide an outlet to display some of the arts and crafts and items for sale that the resident make to generate income during their shows.
