Johannesburg Mr. South Africa 2009 semi-finalist, Helgard Marais was presented and supported the regular blood drive hosted by the New Pan-Hellenic Voice Community Radio Station this week. This blood drive, which is done in aid of creating awareness and collecting much-needed blood for the Blood Transfusion Services, has broken many records in collecting blood used throughout the year.

“It was a great privilege not only to be present at this exciting and worthy community event but also a great honour to also personally donate some blood which I know will go to be used where it is most needed,” Marais said.

Helgard Marais said that he did not hesitate when he was asked to endorse the work being undertaken at this event live on the Greek-language Community station, the New Pan-Hellenic Voice. “All of us need to be conscience and aware of how important it is that we have the potential to save lives by just giving a few minutes of our time and some of our blood,” Helgard Marais explained.
