MR.SA 2008 Finalist Helgard Marais: Sonsky Vallei

Helgard Marais helping to hand out some food and drink parcels to the underprivileged children in Sonskyn Vallei near Hartenbos.

Sonskynvallei, just north of Hartenbos near Mossel Bay, is a small vulnerable community. The Dutch Reformed Church of Hartenbos, in conjunction with the women's organization ACVV, provides a nursery school and a soup kitchen for the children and craft classes for adults.

During December 2007 a Christmas party was held for the children with food, gift parcels and a variety programme with puppets and music. While on holiday in Hartenbos I volunteered to assist the charities in their endeavours.
